Tips to avoid accidents in trucks and heavy vehicles caused by cargo

Not all accidents are the result of chance or chance. In many accidents in which trucks are involved, there is negligence or errors behind related to poor stowage, placement or fastening of the load and also with its signaling. Broadly speaking, the transported load must be arranged in such a way as to prevent the materials from falling, shifting or sliding. Failure to take these recommendations into account could lead to dangerous instability of the entire vehicle, not just the trailer or semi-trailer.

You also have to be careful when lighting the truck when it is loaded, avoiding that the merchandise covers the lighting and signaling devices, or the mandatory signs and regulatory plates.

In the event that materials are transported that generate dust or that can easily fall from the trailer (such as sand ) it is recommended to cover them completely. If dangerous, unhealthy, harmful or annoying goods are transported, the rules that regulate this type of special transport must be rigorous.

The side walls of the vehicle body on which the load will be attached are specially designed to resist its thrusts, generated by its weight and inertia force, according to EN-283 standard. In order for the load to be well secured, the use of slings is recommended above all, but straps, chains, cables, telescopic bars and ropes are also functional and safe. These ligature instruments can be complemented with the use of chocks and wedges.

While the lashing elements are chosen, they must be as parallel as possible to the thrust.  It must also be taken into account that the more weight is transported, the greater the friction force that prevents the merchandise from moving. To artificially increase this friction, tensioners can be used to increase the contact between the load and the platform. If the turnbuckles are placed perpendicularly, less tension will be needed to increase the contact force and friction.

A good option to secure the load is interior lashing, which allows goods to be fixed to the universal rails that you mount the walls of the box of the truck, trailer, semi-trailer or van. During this month, recambiosdelcamion.com and Recambios España offer a very interesting offer: the pack of three 50-millimeter-wide and 3.5-millimeter tape tie-downs. meters long at a special reduced price, for only 33.18 euros, when its normal rate is 46.47 euros.
