The test with the Iveco Stralis NP 400 fueled by LNG was successfully carried out between the towns of Steyr and Regensburg, separated by 530 kilometers, and was achieved by loading the truck's tank only once. One of BMW's engineers, Thomas Irrenhauser, highlighted from the test that the nitrogen level of the Stralis's emissions was 60% lower than those of a conventional diesel engine which converts to LNG " into a sustainable and reasonable alternative". Irrenhauser also highlighted that the noise was reduced by half (71 decibels) and that the emission of polluting particles was insignificant, practically zero.
