The first spare parts and spare parts for trucks manufactured with a 3D printer are underway

Aug. 5, 2017
The German multinational Mercedes Benz Trucks has scored a new technological triumph by manufacturing the first spare part for its trucks using a 3D printer. It is a metal part that works as a thermostat cover for Unimog models and has passed all the tests and quality controls required by the brand for its widespread use. Until now, only three-dimensional digital printers were used to manufacture spare parts with plastic components and materials. And in terms of technology, the one who is also up to date is Dometic Waeco, whose electric connection cable for automotive compressor refrigerators is on sale at sparepartsdelcamion.com with a discount of close to 40%.
The first spare parts and spare parts for trucks manufactured with a 3D printer are underway

Daimler AG and the Mercedes Benz Trucks division started working with 3D printers about a year ago, manufacturing small, high-quality plastic parts. But now the qualitative leap is enormous, since the spare parts and spare parts will be made of aluminum. Metal parts generated by a 3D printer have high thermal resistance and high stiffness. Thus, the new digitized procedure is perfect for the mass production of truck elements that will be subject to great technical and mechanical efforts and that can be manufactured with the simple push of a button with full guarantees.

According to the director of Marketing and Operations of Customer Services and Spare Parts of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Andreas Deuschle, the 3D system ensures "identical profitability, durability, reliability and functionality in the parts manufactured with a printer as in those produced conventionally". In addition, digitally printed aluminum parts have identical density but higher purity than conventional parts made from die-cast aluminum. And to finish rounding off and optimizing the process, 3D printer metal parts do not require intensive work for their development or the use of machinery or special tools.

Another advantage of the technological advance is that 3D printing allows making spare parts of any volume and geometric shape. Initially, the first 3D printed metal parts will be used for peripheral and internal elements of the engine, transmission, chassis, axles and cooling system. Three-dimensional printing is proven to be more cost-effective than conventional low-volume replacement parts and opens the door to customization of auto parts and spare parts.

Almost as revolutionary in their day were the portable compressor refrigerators designed by Dometic (Waeco) and now essential in every truck or professional transport vehicle cabin and even in private vehicles, vans and camping sites. For the refrigerators to work, it is only necessary to have an electrical connection cable (at 12 or 24 volts), like the one that is now on sale at recambiosdelcamion.com for units of the CDF range, with a discount close to 40%. Take advantage of the opportunity.
