New regulations on loading trucks and commercial vehicles

The new regulationis contained in Royal Decree (RD) 563/2017, which provides that inspections may be carried out on all trucks, vans and vehiclesof transport and commercialwhile circulating on the  road network throughout the Spanish national territory, regardless of its registration date. The RD states that the cargo fastening elements and some of their components must meet certain resistance parameters in the moorings stakes, rear, side or front that are used to hold the merchandise.

Law enforcement officers randomly checking vcommercial and professional vehicles, vansand truckswill initially conduct a visual inspection to evaluate the state of the loading elements and then they can check the resistanceof the fastenersto the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicles. To carry out this task, the traffic police will have tensiometersand their corresponding tables for calculating the efficiencies of the fastening. 

It will also be verified that the weight is not exceeded of the maximum load allowed depending on the dimensions of the vehicle and that it is correctly distributed. Depending on the deficiencies detected -from minor to dangerous- the truck driver or the professional of the race may be sanctioned and even immobilize the truckor the commercial vehicle.
