The last truck manufactured at the Nissan plant in Ávila is scheduled to come out in September of next year, after 60 years as the flagship of the province's automobile industry. José Vicente de los Mozos, president of the Renault-Nissan Alliance in Spain, defends that the reconversion is an option for the future "that will give stability to this factory". The operation guarantees the continuity of the current 471 jobs.
The transformation of the Avila plant will require an investment of around 40 million euros and the execution schedule of the works anticipates that the manufacture of spare parts and spare parts can begin during the first months of 2020. The project will involve the fitting out of a stamping plant in the current truck testing area and some 13,000 m2 of warehouses in a first phase, which will be expanded to 35,000 m2.
The alliance estimates that 70% of the parts manufactured at the facilities are for Renault trucks and the remaining 30% for Nissan.
